Principal’s Message
Dear Gompers Middle School Families,
I am thrilled to introduce myself to you as the new principal of Gompers Middle School. My name is Tunua Johnson, and I am honored to take on this role as we work together to create a nurturing and inspiring environment for our students.
With 24 years of experience in education within the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), I have dedicated the last 13 years to serving as an Assistant Principal. Throughout my career, I have remained deeply passionate about fostering student achievement and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
At Gompers Middle School, my vision is to cultivate a learning community where all students are empowered to reach their full potential. I believe that education is a collaborative effort, and I am committed to working alongside you—our parents and guardians—as partners in developing productive citizens. Together, we can create an environment that encourages curiosity, resilience, and a love for learning.
I envision a school where students feel valued and supported, where their voices are heard, and where they are encouraged to take ownership of their learning. Our goal is to equip them with the skills necessary to navigate the challenges of the future and to become compassionate, responsible members of society.
